A Response to the ATL Massacre: Exploring Radical Hospitality and the ‘Monstrous Other’
How do we respond to that which is Other?
By the logic of Empire, the Other is characterized as monstrous and threatening--exemplified by the recent massacre of Asian sex workers by a white supremacist. We see a similar logic displayed in the book of Revelation where John describes the Whore of Babylon’s violent destruction. Yet the Korean concept of jeong teaches us a logic of love that that transforms the oppressor/oppressed binary into a relationship of radical hospitality.
